Accelerated Orthodontics

For anyone who wears braces, the first question is nearly always “how long they will need to stay on?” There is an emerging school of treatment called accelerated orthodontics whose goal it is to shorten the time needed to straighten the teeth with some studies claiming that accelerated orthodontic treatment can reduce treatment times between three and eight months.

Adult Orthodontics

There are more and more adult orthodontic patients these days, and it’s not hard to figure out why. Appliances that are barely noticeable have been developed to give adults more discreet choices when it comes to orthodontic treatment. And many adults realize that investing in a smile makeover can have significant benefits, socially and professionally. Straightening teeth can be an important part of that confidence-boosting makeover process.

1.Cosmetic dentistry

A. Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain dental veneers are one of the most effective and aesthetically gratifying remedies for teeth that are chipped, stained or even misaligned. Porcelain dental veneers are the most common procedure incorporated into a smile makeovers and can also be an option for patients that are simply looking to have a gorgeous smile.

B. Tooth whitening

Tooth Whitening (termed tooth bleaching when utilizing bleach), is either the restoration of a natural tooth shade or whitening beyond the natural shade. Restoration of the underlying natural tooth shade is possible by simply removing surface stains caused by extrinsic factors, stainers such as tea, coffee, red wine,
and tobacco. The buildup of calculus and tartar can also influence the staining of teeth. Calculus and tartar are difficult to remove without a professional clean. To whiten the natural tooth shade, bleaching is suggested. It is a common procedure in cosmetic dentistry and a number of different techniques are used by dental professionals.

2. Dental implants

If you have missing teeth, traditional dentures are not your only option. Implants are the most advanced dental procedures. Dental implants look and feel like your own teeth. And because they are designed to fuse with bone, they become permanent.

3.Orthodontics

Orthodontics is a specialty field of dentistry that deals primarily with malpositioned teeth and the jaws: their diagnosis, prevention, and correction.
Orthodontics is related to correction of :

1. Crooked/malpositioned/haphazardly placed teeth
2. Improper Bites leads to difficulty in chewing
3. Anomalies in jaw growth
4. Proclined/ forwardly placed upper teeth
5. The inability of lip closure
6. Snoring (Sleep Apnoea)
7. TM Joint problems (opening and closing of mouth)

4.Periodontics

It is concerned with prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases that affect
the gums and supporting structures of the teeth.
Periodontal diseases take on many different forms but are usually a result of a coalescence of bacterial plaque biofilm accumulation of the gingiva and teeth, which lead to the destruction of the supporting bone around natural teeth. Untreated, these diseases lead to alveolar bone loss and tooth loss. As of 2017, these continue to be one of the leading causes of tooth loss in adults.

5.Endodontics

Endodontic treatment treats the inside of the tooth. The main purpose of endodontic treatment (root canal therapy) is to remove the pathological pulp, then clean and shape the root canal system, disinfect the contaminated root canals, and then obturate (fill) the root canal system to prevent re-infection and promote periradicular healing.

6.Oral surgery

Extractions are performed for a wide variety of reasons, but most commonly to remove teeth which have become unrestorable through tooth decay, periodontal disease or dental trauma, especially when they are associated with a toothache. Sometimes wisdom teeth are impacted (stuck and unable to grow normally into the mouth) and may cause recurrent infections of the gum (pericoronitis). In orthodontics, if the teeth are crowded, sound teeth may be extracted (often bicuspids) to create space so the rest of the teeth can be straightened.
